Theater - Parent Letter from Frederic Lee
IMPROVISATION & THEATER GAMES WORKING IN ENSEMBLE: Take Me to the Theater! (PreK-2)
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian,
Welcome to the Fillmore Experience, my name is Fredric Lee, and I am extremely excited about again bringing my ideas and experience to one of the best learning centers in D.C. Theater presents the young person with a chance to not only discover their individual gifts, but also to work in ensemble, explore literature & history, and to discover each other. Working together with a common goal the student will be introduced to the basic fundamentals of drama; to be focused, to listen, to explore.
Theater is a collaborative art. Many students start with the premise that it is going to be easy, game oriented, and requires little participation or homework. After a few weeks of learning terminology, presentation, and preparation, they find that it is not as easy as they imagined. My goal is not to make it easy, but give each individual the chance to work as an artist working in concert, but having individual talent that complements the ensemble.
I encourage you ask you child about drama class and what they are experiencing. Freedom within the guidelines process will help your young person to develop an understanding of collaboration, work ethic, and final presentation. Reading skills, body development, and critical thinking are all a part of the Theater experience, please come and join us at any time.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me at Fillmore, or come by and join the class.
Sincerely,
Fredric Lee
